Rough Help

Previewing and downloading...

This has been done in two ways to ensure a clean download, and due to the counting and voting system:

• The first will be the easiest for PC users with Internet Explorer and Winamp. That's what we use, so that's what works best. Click the link, it should just ask you whether you wish to download or save the file. Save it.
  
  
• The second, provides you with a new window containing a link that works with Macs and Netscape, and also allows right clicking for PC users (required for the "Save as..." prompt).

Known Issues with IE...

Ja, ja, vee know! Sometimes there are issues with IE blocking mp3 downloads, or trying to open them with a duff mp3 player. If IE is blocking them, it may be a security issue, so look in your Internet security settings and wrestle with them for a bit.

Other than that, it could be a 'Browser Hijack' - go to google and download HijackThis. You need to find if there's an mp3 plug-in. If there is, delete it. I found one on 'O12' - whatever tha means. Close browser, fix it, job done, test. Or use Mozilla instead of IE. Or Konqueror.

Becoming an artist...

Only once you've got your user account details sorted can we set up an 'artist' entry on the database for you. You can create a user account by clicking on the 'Join' link at the top of the page. You then have to contact us by email so we can create the account. The rest is then up to you.

Put as much blurb as you want in the blurb section - the account won't create a link to your stuff until there is something to show (TUNES, PHOTO, BLURB). Put a photo up with your tunes too & link that up. We recommend images with the longest edge being no longer than 300 pixels, in JPEG or GIF formats.

Hosting...

We don't normally host the tunes ourselves, only the preview - it costs us less (i.e. nothing), meaning we have to offset less against our earnings (also nothing). If you have access to any free web-space put the tune up there & enter the URL in the box labelled 'URL' in the 'add a track' control panel.

Privacy...

The personal information you have given will not be sold or given to anyone else. From time to time we may send you some useless crap, but on the whole we think it'll be something you may be interested in. If you are not, and such mailshots annoy you, click on the link at the bottom of the email, then translate the complete works of Shakespeare into Serbo-Croat, and that will be the last you hear of us. What we're trying to say is: we won't give out your info and we will do our utmost to keep it safe (eg any mailshots will be done using blind carbon copies).

Known bugs...

Cookies are used to track you and keep hold of your preferences. They sometimes do not work. See the help info at log on.

Don't forget the "http://...." at the start, or it won't work. We haven't got around to making that bit automatic yet.
